"Living Room for the Battle Ground Area"

Battle Ground Community Library is a comfortable, cozy spot where you can meet with friends, curl up with a good book, or attend a poetry reading. Friendly staff members greet you as you enter the library, where you'll find a broad selection of books, magazines, audio and video formats and computer resources. You can do research or just relax and browse.

Our large selection of picture books, chapter books and early readers reflects our strong commitment to serving families and children. During the school year, we offer four story times each week for ages birth to six years. Our Summer Reading program offers reading incentives for ages birth to 19, as well as popular summer entertainment on the lawn. Families with newborns receive free "Hello, Baby" book bags, compliments of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation. Older children can receive homework help and assistance with finding a good book to read.

Teens are welcome at our monthly Young Adult Advisory Board meetings, where they enjoy free pizza and give input on our library services.

Adults and senior citizens participate in book discussion groups, research their family history using genealogy electronic resources, or search the Web on our two Internet computers.

Recognizing the great need for a new, larger library for the Battle Ground area, Fort Vancouver Regional Library District, the Friends of Battle Ground Community Library, local developer Dennis Pavlina and the Gold Medal Group, Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation and other supporters have come together to make the dream a reality. The library district has an option to purchase a building at Battle Ground Village, a new retail complex under construction at SE Grace Ave. and Rasmussen Blvd. FVRL has committed $1.4 million to the Battle Ground building project. Funds raised by the Friends will help complete the interior of the building. The developer anticipates breaking ground on the building shell in Fall 2007.
