City of Vancouver

Vancouver voters passed a library facilities bond measure on September 19, 2006 with 63.37 percent approval. Up to $43 million in 20-year general obligation bonds will be sold to support three library projects within the city of Vancouver. This amount is $7 million lower than the total $50 million project cost, thanks to private donations the district will receive. The three projects are:

  • Vancouver Mall Community Library Planning for remodeling and making bond-funded enhancements to Vancouver Mall Community Library's technology and computers is temporarily on hold pending finalization of Westfield Vancouver plans for overall remodeling of the mall.

Long-range planning

Goal II of the district's 2006-2008 Strategic Plan, finalized in August 2005, sets priorities for facility capital improvements for the next three years. In January 2003, the district adopted a 20-Year Capital Plan that outlines long-range strategies to provide library services and build or enhance facilities to serve its more than 400,000 constituents.

Public input

The district is always interested in receiving suggestions from members of the public regarding its library services and capital projects. Call the district business office at (360) 695-1561 or send an email to newlibraries@fvrl.org.
