Three Cups of Tea
Link to book in our Catalog Friends and neighbors throughout Skamania County are reading Three Cups of Tea, Greg Mortenson's gripping and inspiring story of building schools for children of Afghanistan and Pakistan. On Tuesday, May 26 at 7 p.m., they'll gather at Stevenson Community Library to share thoughts about the book and ideas for meaningful ways to connect at home and abroad. Copies of the books are available at the Stevenson and North Bonneville libraries.
Current Marijuana Policy and Practice
What's happening in Washington as it relates to medical marijuana? Forum at the Library brings together panelists from the Clark/Skamania Drug Task Force, the Washington State Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse and the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington. Held Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in Clark Public Utilities Community Room, located at 1200 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver.

May's Vote: An Original Play
Go back in time 100 years and spend an evening with two Washington State suffragettes, Emma Smith DeVoe and May Arkwright Hutton. Discover how they worked toward a common goal to get Washington women the right to vote. Held at Vancouver Community Library (downstairs in Library Hall) on Tuesday, May 5 at 7 p.m.

Grand Opening May 30 at New Battle Ground Library

The dream of a new library has lived in the hearts of Battle Ground community members, library staff and trustees for many years...and now, thanks to the dedication and hard work of an entire community, the dream is about to be fulfilled. The current library's doors have closed so that books and materials can be moved over in time for a "soft opening" at the new site on May 15. Join us for a big grand opening event on Saturday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m. See the project page for more details.

Raffle benefits new library
Friends of Battle Ground Library are raffling this "Heart of the Community" handcrafted quilt by Mary Goodnight. Proceeds benefit the new library. Drawing will be held during the new library grand opening on May 30. Need not be present to win. Tickets are $1 each; call (360) 666-5865 for more information.

Friends' sales help to support your library

Garage Sale
Friends of Stevenson Community Library will participate in a community-wide garage sale held at the Rock Creek Fairgrounds in Stevenson on Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Find books, household items, furniture, plants and more. Call the library at (509) 427-5471 for more details or to donate sale items.

Used Book Sale
Friends of Vancouver Community Library will host a sale in the basement of the main library on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 from Noon to 5 p.m. No book will cost more than $1 and mass market paperbacks are only 50 cents. Special pre-sale for Friends members on Friday, May 1 from 6-9 p.m. (memberships may be purchased at the door).
