Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social
Don't miss this annual event, held on the Goldendale library grounds on Thursday, August 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Free cake, ice cream, root beer floats and entertainment featuring "Jamba," a Gorge-area African marimba band. Co-hosted by the library and the Friends of Goldendale Community Library. Donations accepted.

Reading Buddies
Volunteer teens will provide one-on-one
reading with your child for one hour. Bring your own book or use one of ours. No sign-up or registration required. Held on the back lawn of the Cascade Park library on Thursdays, August 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 11 a.m. Each child gets a free book to keep each week, provided by the FVRL Foundation.

Bill Oyen: Acrylic Artist Gallery Show
Inspired by the dot painting style of the indigenous
people of Kuna-Yala in Central America, and the Australian aboriginal people, Oyen's art includes rich, colorful figurative and abstract works. Come and meet the artist at a special reception on Sunday, August 2 at 4 p.m. at the White Salmon library, or stop in during library open hours to view the gallery show between Aug. 1-28.

Read to the Dogs
For children ages 5-12. Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog.

Centennial celebrations in La Center and Ridgefield
Our libraries in La Center and Ridgefield will participate in community celebrations that mark 100 years of incorporation for these two towns.
In La Center:
Participate in the La Center library's Passport Program during the month of August. Also see the Centennial Celebration web site for more community events.
In Ridgefield:
Kids, make your own Centennial Time Capsule on Saturday, August 22 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Ridgefield library. Make a mini flip book, too! See a community calendar featuring Centennial events around Ridgefield.
