Read...Play...Discover!
Baby-preschool programs at both libraries and schools
In the first five years of life, children learn more and at a faster pace than at any other time.
Make the most of these early years by reading, playing and discovering the world with your child! We offer storytimes for young children at all our locations. And, in conjuction with our community partners, we are able to offer two types of fun programs in numerous local schools for children ages birth to 5: Read & Plays and Building Blocks (find the dates and locations for these programs on our Storytimes & Kids Events page). Both include activies that encourage language development through books, songs, fingerplays, music and movement. It's also an opportunity for parents and caregivers to exchange ideas. At Read & Play programs, a parent educator is available to discuss developmental concerns and parenting triumphs. --Jacquelyn Keith, Children's Services Coordinator

Funding Nearly Complete
Battle Ground Library Friends are nearing their fundraising goal
Jane Higgins, president of the Battle Ground Library Friends, recently
 | | FVRL is in the process of purchasing this space at the new Battle Ground Village. Friends fundraising is needed to help turn it into a library. |
shared some very good news. A Battle Ground couple who wants to inspire the community to finish the campaign has pledged to give the final $25,000 out of the remaining $32,000 that is needed. That means the Battle Ground Friends need to garner just $7,000 more to fill the funding gap and secure this couple’s donation. “We cannot relax in this economy and make the mistake of thinking it will be easy,” said Jane. “But we know we will get the job done with this kind of inspiration!” To learn more about the Friends' campaign, contact Jane at (360) 666-1480.
