Drawing from his forthcoming book, From Sky Dogs to Wild Ones: Nativing the Horse in North America, Dr. Steven Fountain will discuss the cultural and environmental changes sparked by horses in both Native American and Euro-American societies. Held at the Three Creeks library on Thursday, February 4 at 7 p.m.

Bring your whole family to celebrate the Year of the Tiger with free and not-to-be-missed performances at Wy’East Middle School Auditorium (1112 SE 136th Ave., Vancouver) on Saturday, February 6, beginning at 2 p.m. Enjoy the traditional Lion Dance performed
by Portland Lee’s Association and a Chinese puppet show, "Image of China," by the award-winning Dragon Art Studio. Students from Salmon Creek Chinese School and Portland Chinese Art and Cultural Center also will perform. Tax-Time Helpers
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be providing free tax assistance at area libraries and other community locations in February, March and the first half of April. The program is focused on helping low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 or older. See a listing of locations and hours.

Job Hunting? Visit Our New Self-help Job Lab!
If you are job hunting, you may benefit from our new Job Lab. It is located in the downstairs computer lab of the Vancouver library and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to Noon. Use resources to find job listings, get computer time to write your resume, obtain support in preparing for an interview, and access tools that help you determine what career may suit you. Bring a portable USB drive to save your documents.

Chocolate Fest Fundraiser
Enjoy an evening of rich indulgence at this "Chocolate Fest" fundraiser! This event will be held Thursday, February 11, 5-8 p.m. at the Vancouver Whole Foods Market (815 SE 160th Avenue). Purchase a $5 passport and then enjoy exclusive samples of chocolate-inspired food and products at "tasting stations" found throughout the store. Proceeds will benefit FVRL Foundation and their efforts to purchase books for the NEW Cascade Park Library. The passports can be purchased in advance at the Vancouver Whole Foods Market beginning Monday, February 1.
