Carnegie Libraries tour

"A Historic Carnegie Library"

The oldest library in the district, Goldendale's unique 1914 Carnegie library underwent a $1.2-million renovation and expansion in 1985. Stop by and you'll discover that there's something for every taste and interest among our more than 30,000 books, videos and audio cassettes.

The library has several public access computers available for use free of charge. You can search the Internet or type your resume or report. Children will enjoy using our interactive computer story station.

A wide range of programs are offered throughout the year, including Summer Reading for kids and teens, storytimes, book discussions, Inquiring Mind presentations, art shows and many other community interest events.

Contact us about our Adult Literacy Program. A free service that utilizes volunteers, this program is designed to help adults in improving their basic literacy and life skills, from reading signs, newspapers or books to filling out forms and checkbooks or writing letters.

We are also the bookmobile headquarters for the eastern portion of the district. (If you live in a rural area within the 509 area code, you can reach the library using the toll-free number, 1-888-546-8281) Call us with your special request so we can bring the materials you need on our next bookmobile run to your area.
