Library District Launches 2009 Children's Bookmark Contest
District-wide -
Deadline for entries is Jan. 31
VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Fort Vancouver Regional Library District has launched its 2009 Bookmark Contest. The popular contest, held every other year, is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grades. Entry forms for the contest are available in English, Spanish and Russian at the district's Web site, www.fvrl.org.
Major sponsors for the contest are The Columbian, IQ Credit Union, Les Schwab Tire Centers, McDonald's, Cascade Dental Group, and Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation, with support from Pacific Office Automation.
The deadline for submissions is Saturday, Jan. 31.
Finalists for each grade level will be chosen at individual libraries. One district-wide, grand-prize winner will be selected from among local finalists for each grade level. Grand-prize winners will be notified the week of Feb. 19 and will be announced in an ad in The Columbian in March. Celebrations for all participants will be held in libraries during National Library Week, April 12-18.
Grand-prize winning bookmarks will be printed and distributed throughout the year as FVRL bookmarks. Grand-prize winners will also receive framed copies of their bookmarks.
"Our 2007 contest attracted more than 6,000 entries," said Jacquelyn Keith, coordinator of children's and family services for the district.
