2010 Vancouver Library Display Case Requests Due Oct. 1

Deadline extended from Sept. 24
VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Vancouver Community Library (main library) has announced a Thursday, Oct. 1 deadline for requests for inclusion in its annual lottery for 2010 monthly use of the upper lobby display case. (This is an extension of the original deadline of Sept. 24.)
The use of the display case is open to individuals and groups engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual and charitable activities. The space may not be used for partisan solicitation of votes for or against candidates or ballot measures in political campaigns, nor for the sale of any services or items.
Lottery submission forms are available by calling (360) 695-1566. The form is also available online at http://www.fvrl.org/aboutus/vancouver_main.htm. Forms must be returned to the library by 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 to be included in the random drawing held the following week.
Ten one-month reservations are available during the 2010 calendar year, for January, February, March, May, June, July, August, September, November and December. The library reserves use of the case for its own displays during the months of April and October.
Ten people whose submissions are picked, plus five alternates, will be notified in October by telephone and by letter that their requests have been selected.
The large, glass-fronted wall display case is located in the library's front entrance lobby, a high-traffic area through which more than 35,000 library visitors pass each month. The case provides a public forum for the exchange of diverse ideas and community information. Over the years, a wide variety of topics have been featured, including hobbies, community organizations, and current issues.
Fort Vancouver Regional Library District does not endorse any points of view expressed in the display case by non-library groups or individuals. Display case use policies and guidelines are available at the FVRL Web site at http://www.fvrl.org/aboutus/policies/exhibit_space.htm or at the library information desk.
The library is located at 1007 E. Mill Plain Blvd. The building is handicapped accessible and is on C-Tran routes 25, 32, 37 and 39.
