Fort Vancouver Regional Library District Volunteer Policy WHEREAS the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District is committed to the utilization of all available resources to further its goal of providing quality library service; and WHEREAS it has been demonstrated that volunteers can enrich library services and assist in informing other members of the public about the library; and WHEREAS within a program of effective recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation, volunteers can perform tasks efficiently and responsibly: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that it is the policy of the Board of Trustees of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District to initiate a program for volunteer assistance. The program, under the direction of the Library Executive Director, will provide for the effective recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of volunteers, as well as designating areas where volunteer assistance is appropriate. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the intent of the Board of Trustees of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District that volunteers be used only to enrich budgeted library service programs and that no volunteer service will be used to replace positions that are part of the Library's regularly funded service.
