"The Main Library at Central Park"
As the largest branch in the district, we house more than 260,000 books and check out 1.2 million items a year. You will find something for every interest and reading level including books on tape, non-fiction videos and large print books. We offer a large collection of maps, pamphlets, phone directories and local and national newspapers and magazines.
Use one of our 14 free Internet and word processing workstations to do research or type your resume or report. We also have several interactive computer "story stations" for kids.
Our reference collection is expansive and staff are ready to assist you with any information request you might have.
If you're looking for local information, you'll find what you need in our large Northwest reference collection that includes local history and many current regional documents. We also offer microfilm and microfiche reader/printers (copies are 10 cents per page) and have local newspapers on microfilm back to the 1800s. This is the best local place to start if you're researching your family roots!
The Vancouver Community Library also houses the Nonprofit Resource Center, which provides printed materials and two dedicated computers with access to the Foundation Directory Online Database.
Programs are available for all ages and include story times, teen programs, a book discussion group and local interest programs such as Forum at the Library and Inquiring Minds.
Stop in to discover the incredible wealth of information we have to offer. Visit our greater Vancouver building project page to learn about the library expansion project that is currently being considered.
