Invest in Ridgefield Community Library

Progress and next steps:

News:

  • FVRLibraries and the Ridgefield Community Center Association have a verbal agreement and are working on a written agreement to transfer the building and land for the purpose of expanding the library. We expect finalization of the agreement by the end of September 2018.
  • Current users of the community center may continue to use the meeting spaces until early 2019.
  • The City plans to raze the public works building on the corner of Mill and 3rd to create parking for the new library, and relocate staff from Mill and 3rd early in 2019.
  • If funding is complete, library construction will likely begin during the summer of 2019. We anticipate that the library will relocate for several months to allow for remodeling and construction.
  • The estimated completion date for the new library is early 2020.

What's next?

  • Finalizing the written agreement between FVRLibraries and the Ridgefield Community Center
  • Sending out a Request for Qualifications for architects and other consultants
  • Developing a full budget for the project
  • Establishing a plan for fundraising with the FVRL Foundation and the Friends of Ridgefield Community Library
  • Working with the public and community partners to map out the community's needs in a new library

How you can help:
