Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Having trouble finding a particular title? Interlibrary loan may be the answer:
- Check the Catalog to see if we already own the title.
- Ask A Librarian for confidential help to find what you seek
- Go to ILLiad to set up an account, make a new request, check the status of a request, or renew an ILL item.
- Visit WorldCat to find titles to borrow, keep wish lists, and make requests using the automated service called Illiad.
ILL changes coming January 1
There are changes coming to Fort Vancouver Regional Library DIstrict's (FVRL) interlibrary loan program in 2010 that you need to know about.
Beginning January 1, 2010:
- The maximum number of active ILL requests allowed at any one time will be 5 rather than 10.
FVRL needs to make this change to bring the ILL program in line with our resources. With reduced revenues that necessitated layoffs earlier this year, we are unable to staff at the level required to keep up with the current volume of requests. - We will discontinue borrowing computer games, music CDs or entertainment DVDs or tapes from other library systems, including recordings of television shows.
We need to make this change to more responsibly participate in the network that allows us to borrow materials from other libraries. Participating libraries generally request loans of other libraries' materials only in those formats they already have in their collections.
Since FVRL does not currently have the revenue needed to create a music or entertainment video collection, we will limit our ILL requests for audiovisual material to fiction and nonfiction audio books, and information DVDs.
We will continue to try through February 28, 2010 to fill all pending ILL requests that were received before January 1 for any type of materials. Any unfilled reuqests for entertainment DVDs or tapes, computer games or music CDs still pending on March 1 will be canceled.
If you have questions about these ILL changes please feel free to contact us at 360-695-1566 or by email at illiad@fvrl.org.
