Library Resources

Foundation Directory Online, a database available in all FVRL libraries on Electronic Resources computers, allows powerful research of grant opportunities from more than 90,000 private grantmakers. (This database was made possible 2003-2008 through the generous support of the Community Foundation and Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation.) Vancouver Community Library offers regular tutorial classes on how to use Foundation Directory and other library resources for nonprofits.

This site is designed to help new nonprofit organizations complete IRS Form 1023, the Application for Exempt Status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Foundation Center
National information clearinghouse, research center, and publisher. Its Foundation Directory Online, a database available by subscription only, can be used freely in all library branches of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library system. Information about 70,000 foundations and 200,000 grants can be customized to your needs.
Grants.gov
Grants.gov is THE site to find and apply for Federal grants across 26 grant making agencies. Grant categories range from Agriculture to Technology. Some electronic grant application packages are available via the website.
Govbenefits.gov
A one-stop site to find government benefit program eligibility information. Whether it's a direct payment, loan, insurance, training, or other services - there may be government benefit programs available to help you. Start from the homepage, choose either Locate Federal or State Benefits, Browse by Category, or Get Results by Questionnaire.

A national training institution for fundraisers. Links from this website also provide easy access to federal funding sources.

National Center for Charitable Statistics
Besides being the national clearinghouse of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States, NCCS has information on understanding and filing the Form 990.
