Visit a Haunted Library... if you dare
 A note from Jen:
In honor of October and the Halloween holiday, I asked library staff throughout the district if they had any ghost stories or other haunting tales from their library locations. Here are stories from two different libraries. Names and locations are kept anonymous to protect the innocent! Can you guess which of our libraries might be haunted?
From Library Employee "Edith": Shortly after I started at FVRL, I was scheduled to work on a Saturday by myself. My boss wanted me to know that rumor had it that the building was haunted. She said that staff had reported the elevator door opening by itself, and then hearing footsteps.
I came to work 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, before other staff arrived. Sure enough, the elevator door opened. I turned around to see who was there. No one.
Then I heard the footsteps. I got up from my work table and looked around the column. Nothing. This continued to happen and other people have experienced the same phenomenon. But I never felt unsafe, even with all the creepy activities going on!
From Library Employee "Dustin": When I was hired to work for FVRL, the ladies in the office told me to keep my eyes peeled for anything weird because they heard my library was haunted. I, in my cynical way, dismissed it as a bunch of hogwash.
But one day at 7:30 in the morning all of the books on the new book shelf launched off the shelf one at a time… FREAKY! There is also a roving cold spot on the second floor. So now, I have to admit, I think there is something supernatural going on in our library.

Your Friend Wants you to Read This
Hangman’s Curse—Frank Peretti
I liked the moral behind the story: we’re all people and we deserve to be treated equally and with respect. The story was about these kids who, much like me and my friends, aren’t treated fairly by anyone and are looked down on for dressing differently. I love Hangman’s Curse because I can relate to some of the characters. It’s a good and interesting story, probably one of my favorites!
