Notes from Jen...
I am pleased to report that we had 275 entries into our annual Fall Writing Contest. A panel of judges read all the entries and selected the top three from two categories: middle and high school. See the Writing Contest Winners section below to find links to the winning stories and more!

Which are more awesome, Zombies or Robots?
A debate has been raging in our library teen groups. If you had to pick, which do you think are better: zombies or robots? Now, I know we aren't debating world peace here, but inquiring minds want to know... which do you prefer?
First, watch this video (filmed at this summer's Clark County YAAB Games) for inspiration.
Still can't decide? You can do a little research, a.k.a. check out these library books if you think they will help you make up your mind.
Zombie Books
Robot Books
And finally, once you DO decide which, in fact, is more awesome vote in this poll.
Results will be posted in the December eNewsletter!

Your Friend Wants you to Read This
Come Juneteenth—Anne Rinaldi
My favorite subject is American History, so I love Ann Rinaldi's books. This book is about a girl and her mulatto friend who live in Texas during the final parts of the Civil War. It was really interesting to read about slaves in Texas because I hadn't heard anything about it before. In this book, slaves in Texas were freed two years after other southern slaves. The plantation owners wanted everything to stay as "normal" as possible and feared a slave uprising.
