Library Levy Lid Lift

I’m proud and so excited to share that the levy has passed.
This is more than a vote—it’s a powerful statement from our communities: libraries matter. Access matters. Stories, learning, connection—they matter. And the people of Southwest Washington just said “yes” to all of it. On behalf of Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries, thank you. To every voter who showed up, to our staff, our partners, and every patron who asked a question, shared a story, or stood up for what libraries make possible—thank you.
Libraries have always been more than buildings and rows of books. They’re spaces of welcome, tools for resilience, and engines of possibility. In times of uncertainty, they’ve been steady. In moments of change, they’ve adapted. That’s the story we’re part of. And now, thanks to this vote, that story continues—with renewed purpose. Now, we have the stability to act—and the responsibility to deliver on our promise: to provide access to knowledge, learning, and opportunity for all. And we won’t do it alone.
Our next chapter will be rooted in collaboration—with staff, with partners, and with the public. More than half a million people rely on FVRLibraries, and each one has a role to play in shaping what comes next.
In the months ahead, that commitment will come to life. Our new strategic plan—grounded in thousands of community voices—will be released later this year. It will guide how we grow, how we invest, and how we build with the people of Klickitat, Skamania, and Clark Counties—and the city of Woodland in Cowlitz County. From large cities to rural communities, this plan reflects the full reach of our service.
This vote gives us a mandate—and an obligation. We won’t take it lightly, and we won’t take it for granted.
Thank you for believing in libraries.
Thank you for believing in each other.
And thank you for helping shape a stronger, more connected and literate future for SW Washington that includes Access for All!
With gratitude,
Jennifer Giltrop
Executive Director
