View Full List I am a sports fan as long as I have a team or player to root for. Maybe I’m not a sports purist, but it’s just more exciting that way. I tend to support the local teams—the Seahawks, the Blazers. Recently I’ve started following hockey again and love watching Seattle Kraken games. Sports at our house usually involve meals away from the table and a lot of noisy exuberance directed at the TV.
Hockey has interestingly become a big topic in fiction, especially romance, recently. While stick and ball games have been around for centuries, played by indigenous peoples on multiple continents, there’s some debate about the origins of ice hockey. It appears to have started in the 1870s, but whether it was in Canada, England, or Scotland is well-argued between nations. Canadians definitely shaped the game into what it is today; that is clear. And, it’s a hot topic in romance books. No doubt about that.
I’m embarking on some hockey fiction. I’m not a big romance reader, so I’ve mixed in some additional titles. I hope you take a journey down the ice with me!
Janet
