O Canada!

Canada has been on my mind a lot lately. This is not a complete mystery, because we’re planning a cruise next year with a group of friends to the Maritime Provinces, consisting of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Once the travel bug bites, I’m all in with books, maps, history, and the whole works. I’m pretty excited to see some of Eastern Canada. I’ve been to British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon Territory. I’ve had a brief trek into Ontario over the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan across the St. Marys River. This is home to the Soo Locks where ships transit between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, an amazing sight to watch.

Despite my family roots in Pennsylvania, I have not visited eastern Canada. Someday I’d like to drive all the way across, but that’s for the retirement years, when time is more available. For now, we’ll boat with our friends to the land of Anne of Green Gables. In the meantime, I’ll be reading books set in Canada. If you want to venture there in stories with me, here are some possibilities. - Janet
