Tilt & Other Earthquake Stories

It was supposed to be just a shopping trip at IKEA. Get that crib; she couldn’t put it off much longer. But then, disaster struck Portland. The long-talked-about Big One. She has no phone, no money, no car. The only thing she can do is walk across the wreckage of the city, trying to get home. Along the way, she experiences complete human desperation and unbelievable kindness. Strangers offer help, while others riot at a grocery store. As she walks, she takes stock of her life, career, marriage, and impending motherhood. If she can make it home, she’s determined to make big changes in her life.

FVRLibraries is introducing our districtwide Community Reads program featuring Tilt by Emma Pattee. We invite everyone to read the book and attend the author event and other related programs, including Earthquake Survival and Cascadia Subduction Zone. You can find out more at fvrl.org. Along with Tilt, here are some other books, both fiction and nonfiction, about disastrous quakes.
