2025 Artists of the Gorge

For 46 years, FVRLibraries' Stevenson Community Library has organized Artists of the Gorge, an art exhibition that celebrates the incredible talent of artists from Washougal to The Dalles and all of the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area.

You are invited to view the 2025 Artists of the Gorge exhibition featuring 38 artworks by local artists that range from painting, fiber arts, sculpture, jewelry, and more.

The Artists of the Gorge exhibition will be open to the public to view from Monday, October 6 through Friday, October 31. You can view all artwork in-person, on this webpage, or in the exhibition catalog.

Exhibition Location: Stevenson Community Library, 120 NW Vancouver Ave, Stevenson, Washington

Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday from 10am - 6pm.

About the Jurors

This year's exhibition features 38 carefully selected artworks, chosen by a panel of two community jurors from over 100 submissions. Read on to find out about each juror.

Marilyn Wood Bolles

Marilyn began her art career as a medical illustrator at the Oregon Health & Sciences University. She had a great desire to teach art and left illustrating and returned to school, finishing her Fine Arts Degree at Brigham Young University. Her teaching degree took her to Germany to teach art where she exhibited her paintings and traveled extensively through Europe.

Returning to Oregon, she married and raised six children moving to the Oregon Coast, Alaska, Pennsylvania, settling in Washington State where she continues to paint and exhibit her work. Featured in exhibits at Maryhill Art Museum, Columbia Arts Gallery, and regional exhibitions, she has won numerous awards.

The beauty and charm of the Columbia River Gorge continues to inspire her work as she paints in her River House Art Gallery & Studio in Stevenson Washington.

Laurel Bushman

Laurel is an award-winning artist who was born in California and grew up in Oregon in
an artistic family. She was surrounded by her family’s drawings and paintings. Her own
creativity took many forms, including photography, floral design, textiles, culinary art, and
music. Years later she became absorbed in painting. As a self-motivated and committed lifelong
learner, Laurel’s self-guided art education has been primarily at Scottsdale Artists' School but
also includes classes and workshops in Hood River Oregon, Arizona, and Carmel, California.

Additionally, Laurel is the founder of Columbia Gorge Artists League, which began in
September 2023. The purpose of CGAL is to connect artists throughout the Gorge in a way that
they can share experiences, learn from each other, and show their artwork at meetings in a non-
judgmental format and also prepare and promote professional development.
