Participate in reading challenges, track your reading, write book reviews, and more. Create a Beanstack account for yourself and/or children and keep using it even in between official FVRLibraries challenges! Choose any or all of these options:

• Add your reading doorways/preferences.
• Request weekly recommendations based on your preferred reading experience.
• Share an account with family, teachers, and friends to grant access to recommendations, reading log, and badges. Keep them up-to-date or give them the opportunity to collaborate.
• View pages in other languages (like español, Русский, or 中文) by using the Google Select Language drop-down in the lower right corner of the page.

View recent issues of your favorite popular magazines digitally (including Bloomberg Businessweek, Entrepreneur, Forbes, Fortune, and Wired)—no need to wait for the print edition. You can download to the app for offline reading or read in your browser.

• Important details  
  • There is no checkout limit.
  • Most titles can be downloaded to the Flipster app and kept indefinitely. But some popular titles expire after two days (for weekly publications) or seven days (for monthly or seasonal publications). These titles will display the time remaining, and will gray out once they expire.
  • Flipster doesn't sync across devices, but you can manually download the same content to multiple devices.
  • If your iOS device is in Dark Mode, you may want to switch to Light Mode to make it easier to browse categories or search.

  • If you're at a FVRLibraries location or using our Wi-Fi, you can access Flipster without signing in.
  • If you're using the Flipster app or are outside a FVRLibraries location, sign in with your library card number and PIN.
• Make title suggestions   
  • FVRLibraries selects the titles that are available in our Flipster account, and we review and update the list in October of each year for the following calendar year.
  • If you'd like us to consider a title to add, please fill out our contact form and let us know you're requesting an addition to our Flipster titles.

Check out up to 20 films, TV episodes, music albums, eAudio, or eComics from Hoopla monthly and enjoy them on your computer, phone, tablet, or TV. Collections available in several languages, including español and русский.

• Basic Information
  • Materials are available in over 70 languages.
  • View movies and TV shows for 72 hours following checkout. (Some publishers limit the time to 48 hours.)
  • Stream music albums for up to seven days following checkout.
  • Download and view eComics, eBooks, and eAudio for 21 days following checkout.
  • Start an online book club.
  • The collection will change as Hoopla adds and deletes material. FVRL does not select Hoopla content.
• Getting started
  • First time users will be directed to a login page. Select the hyperlink below the “Log In” button that reads “Don’t have an account? Sign Up”
  • Select Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (WA) as your library.
  • Enter your library card number and pin. 
  • Create a username and password.
• Turn on Subtitles in Hoopla

Hoopla offers subtitles for many of the movies and TV shows in its collection. Videos with subtitles available display a "CC" icon next to the title on the video's details page.

To activate subtitles, first start playing the video. Then, follow the steps listed below based on how you are watching:

On a computer

1. Click the middle of the screen to bring up the playback menu.
2. Click the gear icon in the upper-right of the screen.
3. Pick a language to turn on subtitles.
4. If you wish, click "Caption Settings" to change font and background settings.
5. Click the X in the upper right corner to close the settings window.

On an Android Device or Kindle Fire

1. Tap the middle of the screen to bring up the viewing menu.
2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Tap the language name to turn on subtitles.
4. Tap the X in the upper right corner to close the subtitles window. (You may have to tap the screen again to get back to the movie.)

On an iOS device

1. Tap the middle of the screen to bring up the viewing menu.
2. Tap the small, 3-dot icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Tap "Subtitles"
4. Tap the language name to turn on subtitles.

It’s available via any web browser, however it is not available via the WSJ app.

• How to get started:
  • Use this link to create your account. Password parameters are 5-15 characters, at least 1 capital letter, 1 number, and no special characters. 
  • Your access will be available for the next 3 days.
  • After 3 days, you will need to go back to step 1 and click the link and login as an existing user with the same username and password you originally created.

IMPORTANT: You are not permitted to share the sign-on credentials with any other person whatsoever. Any violation of this clause will result in Dow Jones terminating access for our library.
