“Growing A Reader” mural coming summer of 2023 to Cascade Park Community Library

We’re proud to announce that FVRLibraries has hired artist Sarah Lynne Hunter to paint a six-panel, movable mural for the long wall at Cascade Park Community Library. Her proposal, “Growing a Reader,” was selected from 15 responses to our public Call for Artists.

The new mural is designed around the belief that art has the power to bring diverse people together and inspire a community. It envisions an orchard tended by people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Instead of the fruits and vegetables normally found in a community garden, this is comprised of special trees grown from seeds of knowledge and planted in diversity. The harvest is books of all sizes and subjects, encouraging reading together and enjoying community learning through all ages and stages of life. This story is told in six chapters: Seeds of Knowledge, Planting Together, Tending the Orchard, The Fruits of Learning, The Harvest, and Savoring the Bounty.

The mural is planned to be unveiled in the summer of 2023.
