Check it Out: Library Shelfie Day

Submitted by J. Johnston on

Did you know the fourth Wednesday in January celebrates Library Shelfie Day? This was news to me, but I wholeheartedly approve! The idea behind this unique observation is to take a picture of a book (or lots of books!) and share it with other bibliophiles. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather take shelfies of my books than selfies of myself.

If you’re reading this column, you must be a friend of the library, books, and reading. Congratulations, you’re A-OK in my book. My love of reading may be shelf-ish (I’m a librarian, after all), but I hope my passion is a shared one. And that’s because today’s reading list covers pages (and images) of bibliographic joy. Don’t have a bookshelf at home? No worries, the library offers shelf-help to all who desire reading guidance.

Please remember to love your shelf!
